Kevin Jakeway has been a craftsman in wood for over 35 years and made his first piece of furniture (a three legged stool) in his parents garden shed at the age of 6. At the age of 17 he had completed his first commission, a dining table using recycled oak. This started an environmental trend that still exists in his work today.

After completing his University of Wales degree in 3Dimensional Design in 1986 he set up his first workshop in Ferndale and has been working in wood ever since.

His most prestigious commission is a Presidents Board and carving for the Welsh Rugby Union in 1988. This is currently hanging in the Presidents suite in the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff. The board was updated in 2010 with a new carving to reflect the current corporate identity of the WRU.
